Why pebbles seem so important to our lives and business.
Have you ever met a person with absolutely no ego? Few have ever walked the earth and all of them practiced a single simple principle – an unwavering belief in something more important than themselves. This belief became the foundation for their life. They each learned and practiced the steps needed to live their belief. As magnets they drew others to them and created a contagious believer force of multitudes doing the same steps. Throughout history not one of these leaders ever stumbled on a mountain. But many bruises and skinned knees occurred because of the pebbles they stumbled over in life’s journey.
For some of their followers tripping on a pebble and a resulting skinned knee weakened resolve to move ahead, for others a bruised ankle only hardened their resolve to stay the course. For some following their leader’s example confused them in its simplicity so they doubted and this pebble killed the belief. Others listened to non-believer’s pebbles allowing their belief to be crushed - thus gave up rather than studying the steps for the ability to repel naysayers. Others spoke before being ready – had they only taken the time to remove a pebble from their pocket before speaking another follower was there to join. Other followers threw pebbles themselves as they tried to loudly sell rather than be an example.
